Technicolor

The sun is shining and let’s go bright and Techno!

This season among the different trends are bold colors, and techno print designs. Colors like magenta, fuchsia, and turquoise, are among the colors for this summer. So, just think of pop culture meets 80’s fluo and you will be more than ready!

For this particular trend, most designers play with geometrical shapes, combined with degrade colors, by creating designs that already give a shape to your body, which can be flattering or not flattering at all.

I would recommend searching for the right color scheme and making sure the design represents your personality. This trend is not for everyone, since it has a feel of futuristic/Avant Garde, but don’t let that stop you, if you have the personality to wear this wonderful bright designs, enjoy it!

Goddess Draping

Draping in one of the oldest techniques since we can remember, and since a few seasons now draping has gotten stronger and stronger... so if you haven’t worn any draping this season I recommend you either look in your closet for some 80’s draping revival, which I’m sure you must have waiting for that special occasion... There’s nothing better than a good vintage, and what better then to explore your closet.

Now, draping is not that simple. Many that do not know fear the fabric and believe it is only for those that are very thin, but to tell you truth draping works its best when it is used to camouflage... The key to wearing a drape dress, skirt, jacket or blouse it all depend on the amount of draping and also where in your body you want to wear it....

If we look at the picture let me give you ideas on who can wear these goddess draping outfits...

Fendi papaya drape, Alice + Olivia,  Vionnet crepe drape blouse can be worn by women that have curvier hips, the draping below is not very exaggerated so what the draping is doing is giving you softer curves.
Lanvin draped, Catherina Malandrino purple drape, YSL green, Donna Karan tulle georgette drape dress these outfits are perfect if you consider yourself to be smaller in your bust. The draping will help create an illusion that you have more...
Brian Reyes lame draped skirt, Willow draped, Karen Millen these are ideal if your upper torso is wider than your hips. The draping in the bottom will give balance to your shape.

Polka-dots

Ever since I can remember I wore some sort of polka dot…when I used to dance Flamenco (most of my younger years) they were a part of me, and at times I felt they looked like a costume because I would only wear them when I had to perform… Nowadays I miss having them, and I rarely find them in my wardrobe…

Polka dots can be demure or dramatic , depending on the scale and shape.

Polka dots are like flowers they the bigger the pattern the fitter you need to be, so if you are curvier then small dots are great for you. Dots combined with neutral or pastel colors are considered to be conservative. If you prefer to go for brighter tones, then wear in small doses to avoid the 'clown factor".

Another recommendation is that if you want to wear big dots then try to wear only one piece in dots... or the top or skirt/pants. Combine your dots with a block color to balance the dots, or be creative and creative, combine your dots with stripes of the same color, paisley, or flowers. Avoid both pieces in dots.

Polka dot is a pattern consisting of a series of dots that are not necessarily equally spaced and sized, often differently coloured. Polka dots are most commonly seen on children's clothing, toys, and furniture, but they appear in a wide array of contexts. The pattern rarely appears in formal contexts, however, and is generally confined to more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie. Occasionally white on black regularly spaced polka dots appear on more formal clothing.
Etymology Polka dots first became common on clothing in the late nineteenth century in Britain.
An early recorded use of the term "polka dot" is in 1873 in Godey's magazine. The pattern is named for the dance of the same name. There is no real connection of the two. The name was chosen because of the dance's popularity, which led to many contemporary products and fashions taking the name.

Utility chic

“Utility” clothing was introduced in 1941 at the same time as clothes rationing. The scheme enabled the government to control the raw materials used in clothing manufacture and to limit the amount of fabric used in the production of garments. Clothing prices needed to be regulated so that the population could continue to afford clothing of good quality.

Utility chic, war, fighter, bike is the one style that will continue until next season.

Utility is your everyday look if you only want to add a splash of olive into your wardrobe.

Olive & beige, olive & brown, olive & black, olive & white, olive & turquoise, olive & deep green brown muted colors are good examples of the different color combinations you achieve the best Utility chic look.

Just remember to find the perfect shade of olive green that complements best your eyes, your hair color and your skin-tone. Sometimes make-up helps us look even better, because some colors like olives and beige scream for color in our cheeks, eyes, and in our lips.

There are more forward looks that are also great, and that complement our body shape such as
are not necessarily pieces that “balance” but that “camouflage” and trim us – wear it with a white t-shirt, or black cotton shirt.

Have a great week
