Going Nude

Dear Xtravagans facebook fans we have achieved more than 1000 fans!!! Thank you so much for your support, and for reading Xtravagans every week. Xoxo V

Are you ready for beige? Or nude, flesh, taupe, ecru, oatmeal, biscuit, tea, latte, desert, sand...Whatever you want to call it, is the biggest trend of the season.

Make-up shades go through soft pink, caramels, kakis to nothing, but I have read that you should never call it brown... at least not his season..

Nude, is a very chic color although it is tricky because we need to master which shade goes best with our skin tone. Accessories in this color are also perfect if you wish to just add a touch of neutral color to your outfits, or even look slimmer in your legs or even seem taller.

The lighter the shade of nude the slimmer you should be, like… Haute Hippie, Stella McCartney, Burberry Prorsum, Giambattista Valli, if you are more curvier then darker shades of kakis, taupe, oatmeal, biscuit are shades that could go better with you, Chloe, DVF, Givenchy, Christopher Kane, Lanvin, Marni but don’t forget to take into consideration your hair color and skin-tone.

Denim

Denim* is the one fabric we wear no matter the weather or the season. The more we evolve the more denim evolves with us…

For me the key for wearing denim is in the color and texture. The lighter color you wear it, the thinner your body structure should be, so the curvier you are the darker the denim jean should be so that we don’t accentuate those areas we want to camouflage. The softer the denim, you will give more movement to your body and the less rigidness.

Denim is not only for jeans, think outside the box and bring out that personal style wearing shoes, bags, blazers, structured mixed jackets, jeggings. This season denim is a must!

*Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two (twi- "double") or more warp threads. This produces the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric, which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. Denim has been in American usage since the late eighteenth century.[1] The word comes from the name of a sturdy fabric called serge, originally made in Nîmes, France, by the Andre family. Originally called serge de Nîmes, the name was soon shortened to denim.[2] Denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue"jeans," though "jean" then denoted a different, lighter cotton textile; the contemporary use of jean comes from the French word forGenoa, Italy (Gênes), where the first denim trousers were made.

Floral print special

Floral prints are always a big trend during spring-summer seasons. We tend to bring out our floral outfits no matter the decade, just because the sun is shining and the weather is finally changing.

Prints this season are both big and small, and my recommendations for wearing prints are the following...

If you consider yourself to be classic then go for smaller flower prints. Choose the right shade of color according to your hair, and complexion.

For a classic edgier look, I recommend floral prints combined with block colors. Black, grey, beige and blue are very “in” this season, so don’t be afraid in combining them with a leather jacket, dark skirt (perfect to hide some smaller imperfections), dark legging, or jeggings for a more fitted look.

If your personal style is bolder and shinier, then go for the bigger floral prints. This type of print goes very well if you are fitted and tall, or have an amazing personality. Just be careful in choosing the correct floral print for your figure and complexion, and remember less is more….

Here above are different options on floral prints outfits that can guide you, to what is happening right now.

Country chic

From fringe boots, fringe hobo bags, metallic boots, sequins with fringe, you name it, country chic it’s on!

Country styling is quite easy, but it should be more than checkers, boots and a cow boy hat. Nowadays we have different options when dressing country... If you like this style and don’t know how to wear it, here are some suggestions, just remember to add that extra special touch of you in the equation, et voila!

Classic country styling is quite easy, but I recommend changing the patterns so that when you decide to dress country you look a bit different. For example this Kite & Butterfly peacock devore fringed jacket , it is not very country but the fringe, and loose effect become a mixture of country chic meets bohemian chic.... the Acne aged suede jacket it is the perfect color to go with anything,  you can wear it over a black dress, white or beige pants, and nude or white top, and on top of a floral maxi dress or short dress.
Try something similar like this Haute Hippie hand-coiled alpaca poncho and pair it with Givenchy embroided leather ankle boots  or Christian Louboutin suede platform heel. Sometimes just the shoes are more than enough, or the fringe bag like Marc Jacobs boho bag

Jackets and vests like these William Rast motorcycle jacket, Faith black top with beads and chains  go great with plain shirts, nautical stripes, on top of grey, red, white dresses.  This white vest from Graham & Spencer leather fringed vest, can be great as an all white effect, perfect for a spring event.

Transitional coats

Transitional coats are one step closer to spring and summer! The coat is the last item we choose when dressing-up, even if they don’t match our cloth underneath it, we feel wonderful showing it off.

Trench coats continue to be as popular as always this spring.  Seen in various shapes, styles, they are functional, convenient and stylish. A trench coat is perfect to wear during transitional weather: whether the weather is gearing up to get warm or cold, but isn’t there yet. The trench coat is also incredibly versatile and works equally well with casual and dressy outfits.

There are a couple of accessorizing options that will improve your coat.  One great way to accessorize is with a bracelet or elbow length glove.  Ladylike gloves are a rising trend and bring back the classic glamour of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Pair your coats with great hats, and over the shoulder scarves.

If you’re looking for another accessorizing option, you still have choices.  Trying adding a thin belt around the waist of your jacket; cinching in a large coat gives structure to your figure.
